Echandia appoints Torbjörn Bäck as new CEO and strengthens the organization

"Echandia holds an impressive position in the global electrification of maritime transport, and I am proud to take the helm of the company. Echandia’s battery systems lead the market in safety and long operational life. The company is now starting production in the U.S. and has secured several prestigious orders in both the U.S. and Europe. I look forward to continuing to drive our expansion together with the incredibly strong team we now have at Echandia", says Torbjörn Bäck.

Torbjörn brings extensive experience in scaling up industrial ventures in an international environment and has previously worked in Asia as Senior Vice President and Head of Division Asia Pacific at the industrial group Nederman. Most recently, he served as CEO of the color technology company Coloreel and has previously been the Division Head for Northern Europe at Camfil.

We are also delighted to announce that Jyri Jusslin has joined us to further strengthen our operations in North America. Jyri has extensive experience in the U.S. maritime market and most recently held the position of Group Vice President at ABB Marine. He assumed his role on September 16.

The current CEO, Fredrik Hellström, will continue in Echandia's global leadership team as Deputy CEO, with a special focus on leading major transformation and improvement projects, including establishing operations in new countries, relocating business activities, and other key changes. Fredrik will also work on developing Echandia’s processes, from strategy to delivery, and strengthening Echandia’s position in the Navy segment.
